From the title, critics can anticipate a collection of thought-provoking, masterpiece stories as Iqou’s experience in writing has (over time) been praised within the Nigerian/African literary circles with a long list of mentees roping onto the female writer for mentorship and guidance in the art and writing industry.

Iqou, in her post, while sharing the news, further revealed the name of the publishing house working on her book project. Who is Iqou DianaAbasi?

In 2018, the author was featured among 100 most influential writers in Nigeria by the Nigerian Writers Award (NWA) platform. Placed 42 between Ifesinachi Okpagu and political commentator Japheth Omojuwa, she was described in her profile as a household name in the spoken word poetry circle.

Author’s profile
Iqou writes prose, poetry and scripts for radio and screen. She often performs her poems with a touch of culture-rich Ibibio folklore. Her first collection of poems, “Symphony of Becoming”, was shortlisted for the NLNG Nigeria prize for literature, and the ANA poetry prize; both in 2013.

Iquo has graced poetry platforms such as Lagos International Poetry Festival, Ake Arts and Book Festival, Wole Soyinka at 80, etc. Her writings have also appeared in Kalahari review, Saraba magazine, ANA Review and Olisa.tv.

As an avid student of human nature, Iquo’s writing explores socially cognizant themes, pain, love, womanhood and indeed the trials of the griots of this age. In 2018, she was longlisted along with 8 other African poets for the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature.

Will this Iqou’s “Efo Riro and other stories” book be Nigeria’s first published book for the year 2020? Will it go on to stir up conversations and make it onto bookshelves across the country? Fingers crossed.
